When a client signs up for pt sessions or online coaching, one of the the first things i will ask them to do is take pictures of their food for a few days or use a calorie counting app to log their daily food intake.

The reason for this is so that i can see your portion sizes and we can see what types of food you are eating. From here we can then easily make adjustments and set a daily nutritional structure that is more suited to you and your lifestyle.

Using an app such as my fitness pal allows for more accountability as we can see what your exact daily calorie intake is and more importantly your macros split.

What are Macros??

Macros or Macronutrients are the specific amount of protein, carbohydrates and fat that your body needs daily.

Why is it important to achieve your macros daily ?

Each macronutrient plays a role in keeping your body full and satisfied, which helps to prevent overeating, reduces cravings and enables you to lose weight. "Calories are important for weight loss, but understanding macronutrients will help you stay on track and achieve long-term weight loss, maintenance or muscle growth.

*disclaimer

We are human beings and there is always space for human error. As long as you live by the 80/20 rule; 80% of the time being focused and healthy, 20% of the time a bit more relaxed (maybe having a meal with family or friends) . This will still allow you to achieve your goals and is actually more realistic and sustainable.

___________

Tasks

1. Track your macros for one week

2. Look at the macros section and make note of your splits.

3. Try to keep your carbs under 40% (generally)
